As the name suggests a bridge is anchored on either side of the space which a false tooth/ teeth in the middle. Our aim is to provide a long-term, fixed solution to the missing teeth whilst taking care not to compromise the anchor teeth. Depending on the clinical situation a bridge can even be anchored from one side only – thereby preserving natural tooth structure. With advances in materials and techniques to secure bridges in the mouth, bridges can be designed that require only minimal preparation of adjacent teeth.
We want the false tooth to look natural and to do this we work closely with our laboratory. We arrange for our patients to meet the technician who is going to make their restoration. This way the technician can assess face to face the aesthetic requirements including the right shade. By personally meeting the patients the technician also understands their expectations and needs. In order to get that perfect smile, we may arrange for more than one meeting with the lab technician.
We have options of creating bridges which are all ceramic. These bridges have great aesthetic properties such that it is difficult to know which the false tooth is.
